Chairman’s Chat
Hi All,
It’s been great to see so many of our members competing hard or simply having a go in this nice, warm weather. Participation levels have been high as have the performances.
Here are a few things that have caught my eye for this week, not all of which are race-related.
NEYDL & NESDL Track Athletics
Following another excellent team performance on the track at Shildon, our juniors have achieved promotion to Division 1 of the North East Youth Development League (NEYDL). It’s a fantastic climax to a lot of hard work by athletes and coaches, in which we can all take pride! As well as that, our seniors managed to finish second in their last fixture of the NESDL season – another great result!
Special thanks has to go to Helen Kleiser for coordinating team events over the course of the summer – she’s been tireless and has at least managed to make it LOOK easy! These events can’t happen without officials and volunteers either so to all of you who have helped out at any point, A BIG THANK YOU!
Jelly Tea 10-Mile Race
We’ve been given a free club place for this race organised by Tynedale Harriers which takes place on the 23rd August. It’s a cracking race in beautiful countryside and the food at the end is to die for! There’ll be an internal poll on Spond for anyone interested in entering the ballot.
Darlington 10K
There’s still a chance to enter this popular event which takes place on Sunday 2nd August. It’s our Club Championship 10K race with trophies for the first finishers in the male & female senior & veteran categories. ENTRY LINK.
Referral Incentives
During August we’re offering an incentive to members who refer new people to join the club. For every 2 people referred during the month you’ll receive a £10 Start Fitness voucher. So, if you have a few people who you think could be persuaded to join, August is the month to convince them!
Alternatively, if you’re not yet a club member but you fancy joining and you know someone at the club, why not do it now and let them refer you?
Couch to 5K
Final plans are to be confirmed but our aim is to go ahead with a course starting sometime in September. If there’s anyone you know who might like to take part don’t forget to let them know! More details will be advertised on our website, Facebook and Instagram pages so keep your eyes peeled!
Social Media – Your Contributions
Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been focusing on publishing a regular flow of content on our Facebook and Instagram pages and also on the website, sharing and celebrating our successes while promoting the club. If you have anything that you think might be of interest to club members, let us know and definitely like and share posts to widen our reach to prospective members.
Best Wishes
Matt
