Pooley Bridge Wild Trail Run 10K
Saturday 13th June 2026 | Made the trip over to Pooley Bridge for this race [organised by Wild Deer Events] on Saturday, in cold and breezy weather.
The race started on a nice incline then followed a road alongside Ullswater – a bit undulating! This lasted for about 4 kilometres until we reached Howtown. Then the fun started: turned left up a stony path, climbing 250 meters over about 4 kilometres… rocks and streams along the way… the steep bit at the very top.
Then, what goes up has to come down. The terrain turned into boggy grassland and I just had to let my feet go so that I didn’t sink into the mud. Winding my way down the steep hill while trying to stay on my feet, it certainly was a testing 10.77 kilometres.
Quite pleased to finish in 1 hr 11 minutes – 78th overall and 7th in the 60-69 age group.
