At the ESSA Regional Schools XC  Final held in Stewart Park, Middlesbrough, DCH had a good representation of young athletes competing for the Durham Johnston School, and at stake for the 1st 3 Teams in each Race category was qualification to the National Finals in Suffolk on the 24th November. As it turned out there was tremendous success for the Junior Girls and Junior Boys in their respective Races achieving just that, with both Teams winning their age group categories, a great achievement for the School and wish them well for the Final.

Full Results of the Harriers young members who helped  achieve this (or otherwise listed DJ), were as follows:

(Junior Girls)  Freya Gibson was 2nd in 8.45, Charlotte Dillon 4th in 8.51, Jessica Peart 8th in 9.17, and with Lucy Pinkney 11th in 9.25 (DJ), the 4 scorers, were the winning Team with 25 points, with Ruby Phillips 36th in 10.16.

(Junior Boys) Sam Terry was 2nd in 10.16, Noah Glanville 4th in 10.24, Ivo Schulz 6th in 10.32 and Sam Mason 25th in 11.09 the 4 scorers, and were also a winning Team with 37 points, with Zach Twaddle 28th in 11.17.

(Inter Boys) Charlie Phillips 13th in 15.29, Peter Cook 17th in 15.39, Will McKenna 25th in 15.56, and Oliver McKenna 26th in 16.01 the 4 scorers,  were 4th Team with 81 points, just outside qualification, with Ben Dowsett 34th in 16.19.

(Inter Girls) Emily Salmon 12th in 11.04, Sarah Davidson 30th in 12.43, Holly Cook 34th in 13.04, with Holly Jenkins (DJ) 37th in 13.23 , were 7th Team with 113 points.

Meanwhile at the Heaton Harriers Annual Memorial Road Races, Dan Jenkin was first counter for the Club finishing a highly placed 7th in this well supported 10k Senior Race returning a time of 32.43, only 70 secs behind was veteran Matt Hornsby (v/35) finishing 13th in 33.53. Other City Harriers to finish were: Matt Guilder 35th 36.42, John Nash (v/45) 67th 38.43, Shaun Day (v/50) 175th 42.59, Bob Hewitson (v/60) 217th 44.43, Catherine Gough 235th 45.21, Mike Dann (v/50) 260th 46.32, Diane Wood (v/50) 317th 51.02, David White (v/65) 329th 51.35, Lynne Carruthers (v/55) 335th 52.07, Paul Lancastle (v/55) 360th 54.14, Femke Nauschutz (v/45) 371st 55.51,and Graeme Draper (v/40) 377th 56.17 (445 finishers).

In the Junior (5k) Race, Scott Armstrong (u/20) ran well to finish a highly placed 4th in a time of 16.51, whilst In the u/15 Girls (3k) Race, Caitlin Carr was making her debut at this distance and finished  strongly for 20th place in 12.46.
