How to Join

Membership is open to anyone aged 8 years and above.  Members aged 8 to 10 years join the Mini-Athletes Section but are still part of the Junior Section of the club which extends from 8 to 17 years. The Senior Section is for anyone over 18 years.

Prospective senior and junior members should first email the Membership Secretary (dchmembership@yahoo.com) and can request to be invited to try out up to 4 sessions before joining.  During this period non-members must sign in at Maiden Castle reception as ‘guest members’  and also pay £2 for each visit. Please note that the £2 for each guest member visit does not go to the club. After one month we ask that you join the club as a full member.

Club fees are payable from 1st May each year and run until 30th April the following year.  A discount is available to current members who renew their membership promptly each year.  Details of current membership levels are shown below and are also described on both Senior and Junior forms which can be downloaded from the ‘Membership Forms’ section of the website.  Please note that new Junior Members have to complete two consent forms.

Important information for Parents/Guardians of Juniors with any medical condition:
If your son/daughter has a medical condition that Durham City Harriers needs to know about you must talk to the relevant coach on your son/daughter’s first visit informing them of the necessary information. You also need to put the same information on the ‘Medical Condition of Young Athletes’ form when you fill out the membership forms. If they change groups please inform the new coach of the medical condition. Although the new coach will receive the medical form, we ask you to always talk to them in person as there may be a time delay before the medical form reaches him/her.

Anyone who joins the club after November 1st will pay a reduced subscription for the rest of the year (see below).  Details are on the membership forms.  Discounts are also available for family membership.

Completed membership forms and cheques should be returned to the Membership Secretary whose details are on the forms.  Cash payments must be hand delivered to a Coach.  Anyone wishing to pay by BACS may receive the bank account number by emailing the Membership Secretary.  Membership will be confirmed by email or by letter.

All members are asked to inform the Membership Secretary about any changes relating to changes in address or contact details.
