Wild Card Race – see below
-
- Best four races to count for each runner. But again we are going to allow all entrants to substitute one ‘Wild Card’ race of their own choosing which will count to the final %. If runners choose to do this they have to a)Let Gary know by message/email at least one week before the race the event they are entering. This must be text/message or email! b)Afterwards they have to let Gary know by message/email a link to the race results for that race- SUCH RACES MUST HAVE PROPER RESULTS AND THEY MUST BE OVER A SPECIFIC ACCURATELY MEASURED DISTANCE THAT IS STATED ON THE ENTRY. No parkruns can be included. Races chosen must be at least 5k. Cross country races/track races not admissable but road/trail are fine. The judgement of the Grand Prix Committee is final in any disputes!!!!

Race Three Result: Blackhill parkrun
Well here are the results from Blackhill. A nice course (when you’re spectating certainly but maybe also from the running point of view). Very friendly and the small cafe was just perfect at the end. We ended up going to Blackhill as Jacqui Robson said that it and Hartlepool were good choices. Blackhill seemed a bit different. If you see her you can say how much you loved the hills! Next up is the Thirsk 10 miler to really sort things out.

Team 2 took the honours in the Team Competition. Next race is the Poultry Run on December 18th at Loftus.

Winter Grand Prix 2014-15[divider]
Thirsk 10 and Mermaid 10k and final summary
Bob Hewitson made the Winter Grand Prix his own by getting 15 points in the last two races. He finished the series with a massive 49 points 28 points clear of his next rival Mike Kenyon. Well done to Bob on the consistency of his racing which is what this Series aims to encourage. The final results table is here
[divider]Parkrun 7.2.15
16 runners for the parkrun but a glitch in the advertising meant that most probably didn’t realise it was a GP event! Bob made it but unfortunately his closest rival (Dave) didn’t, so his lead could well be unassailable now. It could be done with only 2 races left, but it’s up to Mike. Can he do it? It’s a big ask. Thirsk and the Mermaid remain.
Top of the leader board looks like this
Bob Hewitson 34
Mike Kenyon 21
Dave Coxon 15
[divider]Old Monk’s 5.5mile 3.1.15
Only four runners from the Club made it to this tricky off road race. First home in 11th position was Chris Wilkinson in an excellent 34.51. Then came Bob Hewitson (62nd), Dave Coxon (94th) and Lynne Carruthers (200th). A report on this race by Bob can be found on the Road/Trail page.
Name | Position | Time | Age Grade(based on race of 10K) | Category |
Chris Wilkinson | 11 | 34.51 | 77.88 | SM |
Bob Hewitson | 62 | 40.27 | 79.74 | V55 |
Dave Coxon | 94 | 42.19 | 68.67 | V40 |

Bob has a commanding lead in the overall competition. The full results can be found here
[divider]Loftus Poultry Race 20.12.14
Four runners from the Club braved this tough one and the first over the line for DCH was Peter Harrison in an excellent 54.40 to come home in 61st position. Next was Bob Hewitson, consolidating his grip on the overall competition, coming back in 108th place in an excellent 71.27% age grading. Third over the line was Mike Kenyon, suffering from a bad cold/cough and lastly Dave in fancy dress came back in 64.02. Well done to all. (You can read an excellent report on the race by Mike on the Results page of the website).
[divider]Heaton Memorial 10k 9th November
On this the second run in the winter series first home for DCH was Ian Crampton in a great time of 33:54, closely followed by Rob Hand in 35:23. Kim Simpson was next in recording 40:30. However when taking in the Age Grading calculation Alan moved up in to third spot with a cracking 80.94% behind Ian-92.03% and Rob Hand 86.75%.
In the overall points table Bob Hewitson goes clear with a 2 point lead over Rob Garbutt and then Mike Kenyon. But who can say what will happen as this competition is all about consistency and who from DCH turns out on the day to steal the bonus points.
[divider]Gibside Fruit Bowl 19 October
Congratulations to all runners on this very hard course. First home for DCH the second year in a row was Dave King who takes the full 8 points. Second was Bob with 7 points.
The next event is on Sunday 9th November – the Town Moor 10k. Will Dave turn up to protect his lead?

Tynedale 10 mile 31 August
Well Peter looks like he’s strengthened his grip on the Summer Grand Prix trophy with a pretty commanding lead. Ian was first home for the club in a really strong time of 56.11 and recording over 90% age grading. Not many of us can aspire to that level of achievement! The current table of points can be found here. Next race and the last in the series is on 14th September-the Wynyard 10k trail race.
[divider]Darlington 10k 10 August
Well a huge turnout which makes the results a while to get on to the website. Here they are with it being all to play for at the top. Peter still there in the lead but Rob not far behind. Next race is the Tynedale 10miler at the end of August.

Sunderland 5k 16th July
The extra points for the night went to the first three DCH runners home, Dan Jenkin, James Askew and Andy Graham. But in the overall competition it is now Peter Harrison leading with 20 points from Alison Walker 18 and Rob Hand 16. It really depends who turns out for all the remaining races with the next being Darlington 10k on August 10th.
[divider]Tynedale 10K 2nd July
Nine runners from DCH tackled this scenic 10k famous for the nice downhill start. First home for the club was Wout continuing his fine run of form (read his race report on the Road/Trail Section). In terms of the Grand Prix it was top points for Bob, followed by Wout and then ***************. In the overall points table *************** goes to the top then comes Rob Hand, lurking dangerously in second place. This event is all about turning out on the day for the race so with Sunderland 5k coming up in a fortnights time all eyes will be on who turns out!
[divider]Penshaw Hill Race
Only for the brave?? Six runners successfully completed this very tough 3miler around Penshaw Monument. Congrats to Rob Hand who was first Vet 50 and 8th overall. A mighty achievement which gets him maximum points and a good lead already in the Summer Grand Prix. Also very well done to other runners, ***************,Lynne,Peter,Chris and Dave.

Clive Cookson
Congratulations to the 12 runners who made it around the Clive Cookson 10k. A great first place in the race for Dan Jenkin – but in the Age Grading he was pipped for first place by Rob Hand who ran a storming race to gain all the bonus points.

Stockton 5k Trail Race 9.3.14
Liz Lamb took the opportunity to go into a strong lead with only one race left, the Mermaid 10k. It looks like an unassailable position now and one thoroughly deserved, hitting a massive 77.55% in terms of age grading in this 5k race. She was followed home by Dave Coxon and Lynne Carruthers who have really supported this first running of the Winter Grand Prix. Commiserations go to Bob Hewitson who was unable to run because of a broken foot sustained at a recent cross country race. Tragic.

Summer Grand Prix Results
2013
The final race in the Summer Series saw Peter Harrison take first position with 32 points ahead of Lynne Carruthers (30) and Bob Hewitson (27). Missing only one race out of the seven Peter fully deserved his win although for a good while it looked like Lynne would take the honours. Consistency was all. Some people came good towards the end of the series like Bob H, but really he had too much to do and not enough races left.
Congratulations to Peter.
