Durham City Harriers were represented by 6 athletes at the recent British universities Championships, held this year in the Olympic Stadium as a test event for the Olympics.
There were 2 club records from Samantha Coleby (Newcastle Uni) in the womens 400 metres. Firstly in the semi final where she ran 55.54 to qualify for the final. She then improved again to 55.28 finishing 4th in the final. Both times being faster than her previous pb/club record of 55.74.
In the womens 400 metre hurdles Sophie Wood (Leeds Met) ran 63.30 in her heat to qualify for the semi final where she finished 6th.
Emma Toogood (Hull Uni) finished 5th in her heat of the womens 800 metres in a time of 2.21.67.
Michael Grimes (Durham Uni) finished 13th in the heats of the mens 5000 metres despite being sidelined by a recent injury.
Olivia Tindale (Lancaster Uni) finished 18th in the final of the womens 2000 metres steeplechase.
New member Tom Kearns (Durham Uni) was a member of the mens 4 x 100 metres relay team which finished 5th in the heats.
