Tia Anderson (16) produced a superb performance at the Annual North East Counties AA Track & Field Championships in Middlesbrough at the weekend , competing in the Women’s (u/17 ) 300m Final, she won Gold recording an excellent time of 40.10 which broke the existing North East record held by Allison Curbishley , a record which has stood for 28 years, and in doing so improved on her own personal best time, having also won her heat in 41.77.  It was a proud moment for all her family and friends.

Among the  Club’s Silver Medalists was her younger brother Travis who is also improving every season and was competing in the (u/15) Boys 300m Final where he finished 2nd recording 40.05, in another personal best time. Matthew Douthwaite also won a Silver in the (u/20) 400m Final  recording a new personal best time of 50.38, likewise William Terry shone in the (u/13) Boys 75m Hurdles picking up a Silver and recording 16.00. Bronze Medalists were Adam Ord  in the Final of the (u/17) Men’s 800m dipping again under the 2 minute barrier and recording 1.59.54, having competed in the 400m Final the day before, but just missed out finishing 4th in 53.76.  Laura Hopper got a surprise Bronze Medal in the (u/20) Women’s  800m Final where there was only 3 turned out in her race, however it was good fortune for her she ran and recorded  a time of 3.00.77.

Other Club athletes who competed but were outside the Medals were as follows; Tom Rutherford (u/20) Men’s 800m Final 4th 2.03.16 pb; Emily Salmon (u/17) Women’s 800m Final 4th 2.23.82  and Long Jump Final 4th 4.65m ; (u/20) Men’s 1500m Final Cameron Thomas 6th 4.18.65, Luke Pickering 7th 4.21.84; (u/15) Boys 1500m Final Sam Terry 7th 4.42 pb; Jessica Peart (u/15) Girls 800m Final 10th 2.43.09, and 200m (Heat) 31.15; Evie Peart (u/13) Girls 800m Final 14th 2.55.34 pb; Tyler Thomas (u/17) Men’s 100m (Heat) 12.25.
