In the Annual ‘FISEC’ (Catholic) T&F Games held this year in the Iolanda Balas Stadium, Bucharest, Romania , Cameron Thomas (u/20) pulled off a very good double of Silver Medals in his specialised events the 1500m and 3000m and was representing GB against 8 other countries. In his first event the 1500m he ran close to his personal best of 4.09.82 in a very competitive race and ran very well recording 4.10.24.to win his 1st Silver. However 2 days later in the 3000m this race became a tactical affair until the last lap which ended with a sprint for the line and Cameron managed to clinch his 2nd Silver in these Championships recording a time of 9.38.89.
At the Scottish Athletes Combined Events & Masters Championships in Grangemouth, Scotland, veteran Conrad Kennedy (v/55) finished 4th in his Heat of the 200m recording a time of 26.54.
In the BMC (British Milers Club) Series 1500m at Chester-le-Street on a blustery evening , results were as follows: (Race B) Scott Armstrong (u/23) 4.08.26 pb, (Race E ) Sam Terry (u /17) 4.37.24 pb, (Race G) Derek McGirl (v/50) 4.50.38 pb, ( Race H) Alastair McCall ( v/55) 5.02.92.
Two weeks earlier Alastair did manage to record a personal best time in the Great North 10k at Gateshead finishing 80th overall , 2nd (v/55) and recording 40.34.
In the North of England (Div 4E ) fixture at Whitley Bay , Durham however were well under strength on this occasion as there was only 3 women competing in the Team not enough to turn out a relay Team and to support the men as its a combined scoring system that counts with A and B strings hopefully in most of the events in a full program of Track & Field. However, those who did compete did very well with many personal bests achieved, the full results of the Durham team who finally finished 5th were as follows:
