The in-form Ryan Watson (u/20) had an excellent run in this year's FISEC (National Catholic School Games) held in Genk, Belgium, finishing 3rd in the 1500m recording 4.15.09, having ran the 800m the day before where he just missed out on the Medals finishing 4th in 2.03.68. Fellow Harrier, Cameron Thomas (u/17), whose season has been interrupted by a stress fracture, competed in the 3000m and did really well considering, finishing 4th in a personal best time of 9.47.36.
In the 4th and final match of the Northern Track & Field League (Div 3E) held at Leeds, the Durham Senior teams were well under strength due to holidays, injuries, and other commitments. The athletes who turned out obviously had the impossible task of filling the void as you need A & B string Male and Female athletes in most of the events to compete in a full program of Track & Field and we only had one female Senior competitor doing Field Events. As a result Durham finished 5th out the 6 competing Teams with 212 Points and were unfortunately relegated to (Div 4E) for next season.
