The penultimate round of the 17-18 Harrier league took place on 10th February at Thornley Hall. The weather and conditions were much kinder than last year but the course was still a tough one. This time it was a reverse of the circuit that was ran in previous events.

In the U11’s event seven club members tackled the tough conditions in the first race of the day. Sam, Will, Lewis and Jonny in the boys and Evie, Isabell and Grace in the girls. Jonny was leading runner in the boys (2nd) and Evie in the girls (8th) Well done to them all.

In the team competitions for the older Juniors the U13 girls were 4th (Charlotte leading home in 8th) and the u13 boys were 3rd (Jake leading home in 13th). The u15 boys were 1st led home By Izaak on home turf. The u17 boys were 2nd and the U17/20 women had no team but Marta had a strong run to 2nd place.

In the senior races the Men had a strong run to finish 4th led home by Matt Hornsby, who had been hot on Dan Jenkin’s heels most of the way round. The men are now back up to 3rd in the league table. In the senior Women good performances from new runners Ellie and Clare help secure 7th on the day. Strong performances from near rivals in the league table still left Durham in 9th in the league table, 1 point behind Tynedale. All is possible at Alnwick, so come and run and help the relegation battle.
