Veteran runner Matt Hornsby has been selected in England’s (o/35) team for next months British & Irish Masters XC at Tollcross Park, Glasgow. Matt was initially inspired by doing Park Runs having played football for many years, he then joined the Harriers in 2014 and has had  success since then due to his dedication and commitment  to the sport, the Club wish him well on his debut. Matt recently finished 4th overall in the Great Cumbrian Run (Half-Marathon) at Carlisle where 1133 runners finished and he recorded a time of 74.14, which was only 5 secs outside his personal best time.

Meanwhile, the ever consistent XC International Rosie Smith broke the course record at the Richmond Castle 10k by 83 secs finishing 4th overall and 1st women recording a time of 36.28, whilst her close friend and former team- mate Aiveen Smith (nee Fox) now running for Horsfield Harriers was 2nd women, with mutual friend and City Harrier Kim Simpson who was 3rd woman, 40th overall recording 44.24, there was 334 finishers.

At the Bob Tinkler Memorial T&F Meeting at Chester-le -Street last month, fine results by our young athletes are now to hand and were as follows: u/17 Men; 800m Ben Horsfield (1st) 2.02.77 pb, Luke Pickering (5th) 2.16.09. 1500m Ryan Watson (1st) 4.28.36. 5000m Cameron Allan (1st) 17.00.71. u/15 Boys; 1500m  Cameron Thomas (1st) 4.34.12. Long Jump :James Thornton (1st) 5.17m. 100m Tyler Thomas (2nd) 12.33, Oliver Taylor (5th) 12.91. 200m Tyler Thomas (2nd) 24.63, Oliver Taylor (4th) 26.58. u/17 Women; Long Jump: Isabel Thornton (2nd) 4.70m, 200m (4th) 30.3.
