Durham City Harriers

Welcome to Durham City Harriers & AC

We are a friendly, successful, and long-established running and athletics club for people of all ages. The club is based in, and trains around, the historic university city of Durham in the North East of England. We cater for the entire range of athletics and have members interested in all track and field events including multi-events, road running, cross country, trail, fell and more. Membership is open to everyone aged 8 years and over. The club encourages membership applications from all groups within the Community. We cater for younger generation athletes at the club, and also have many sportsmen and women competing in veteran events at many levels. Our members cover a wide range of abilities: some are at the sharp end of races, competing and winning at an international level, while others train just for fun or simply to keep fit. Structured training is offered for those who want it, and company is offered to all – nobody trains on their own.

Veteran Jacqui Hodgson (v/45) made the trip over to Aarhus, Denmark, to run in the European Masters Athletic T & F Championships targeting her two main events, the 400m & 200m. Morpeth 10k results

The Morpeth 10k took place on Tuesday 1st of August. This event was also the NEMAA 10k championship. There were a few harriers in attendance. Derek McGirl was first V50, 29th, 37:44. Kelly Bentley looks to have been 2nd V50 woman, 147th in 46:59. Kim Simpson was our only senior, 92nd in 42.57. Full results on this link Read More »

In the Northern Senior & u/20 Track and Field Championships at Sport City, Manchester, three of the Club’s athletes took part and all ran well against some strong opposition. Durham City run 2017 results

The Durham City run on Wednesday 19th June saw a large turnout of Harriers in either the 5 or 10km event. In all, 44 club members ran over the City courses. Dan Jenkin leads Harriers Men to finish Team 3rd in NE 5K Champs

Dan Jenkin led the City Harriers Senior Men’s Team to finish 3rd in the North East Counties Championships at the Sunderland 5k at Silksworth, with Dan 12th in the individual rankings. This Race was also the Club’s Championships Race, and therefore once again became the Harriers’ 5k Champion. Athletics Report – Young Athletes Reach Their National Finals
