Durham City Harriers had two under 17 athletes competing for Durham County Schools in the English Schools Athletic Association T & F Championships at the Alexandra Stadium, Birmingham, over 2 days of excellent competition. The ESAA is one of the largest athletics events in the World and are staged each year bringing together some of the best athletes in each county of England. Pride of place must go to Tia Anderson in the Intermediate Girls 300m where she finished 5th in the Final recording a very good time of 40.32, having finished an excellent 2nd place in her Heat and recording a personal best time of 40.12. Adam Ord also had a tremendous run in the Intermediate Boys 800m Heats where he also ran a personal best time of 1.57.62 having just run under 2 mins for the very first time last month. Although he failed to reach the Final on this occasion, he finished a very creditable 5th place. Both athletes should be very proud of what they achieved against very strong opposition on the big stage!
