Cameron Thomas was delighted to win his first major title at this years Northern u/17, u/20, and Senior Indoor Championships at Sheffield. It was in the (u/17 Men’s) 1500m final where he produced an excellent run recording a time of 4.18.74 which was just outside his personal best time outdoors of 4.17.46 last year. In the u/17 Men’s 800m Adam Ord also ran well finishing an excellent 2nd in the final with a very good time of 2.04.65 after winning his heat in 2.05.13, whilst in the u/20 Men’s 800m Scott Armstrong ran 2.02.00 in his heat, but just missed out on the final. In the Senior Men’s 400m Jordan Matthews recorded a personal best time of 58.94  in his heat. In the Field Events, Oliver Taylor (u/17) finished 7th in the High Jump equally his outdoor best of 1.65m, and was also 7th in the Shot Putt and produced a pb throw of 9.96m.

Veteran (v/35) Matt Hornsby produced an excellent run in this years Brass Monkey Half Marathon in York finishing 7th overall and was 1st veteran returning a new personal best time of 1hr 11mins 08secs taking 1min 42secs off his previous best time. In his previous race on New Years Eve, Matt ran a personal best of 32.43 in the Ribble Valley10k at Clitheroe, Lancashire, and used that as a build up towards this race. Other Club runners to finish were : Karl Monaghan 1.23.27, Simon Gardner (v/45) 1.23.29, Katie Palethorpe 1.51.00 pb, Diane Wood (v/50) 1.54.19, Greta Jones (v/50) 1.55.58, Karen Jones (v/45)  1.55.59, Nicola Whyte 1.57.56, Femke Nauschutz (v/45) 2.04.36 pb, and Jacquie Robson (v/40) 2.24.57.

In the Saltwell 10k Dan Jenkin  produced another fine run in finishing 3rd in a time of 33.23, followed by veterans Shaun Day (v/50) 43.50, and John Spoors (v/35) 54.57.

At the Morpeth New Years Day 11k Road Race, veteran Shaun Day was first counter for the Club recording a time of 46.20, followed by Rachel Bentley 48.17, Katie Palethorpe 55.55, Christine Woods (2nd v/60) 56.19, and  Lynne Carruthers (v/55) 59.47.

Cameron Allan continued his exploits in the British Athletics Cross Challenge Series of Races which this time took him Antrim, Northern Ireland , where he finished 39th overall in the combined ( u/17 & u/20 ) 5.4k Race, and was 17th ( u/20) in a very competitive field recording a time 20.57, and he is currently lying 12th overall in his age category with one more fixture to go.
