The Sunderland 5k took place on Thursday 13th July on a warm, humid evening. There was good turnout from the club and there was some tough racing in all events. The race incorporates the NE 5k championship and is also the race for our own club 5k championship. Dan Jenkin led the Tangerines home in 12th place in the senior men. He scooped the club senior mens trophy, and along with Matt and Rob took 3rd team place in the NE championships. There were excellent runs from Jonny Wilkinson, Cameron Allan and Rob Everson too.

In the Women’s and v50+ mens race Steve Everett flew round the course to 1st place overall and V50. Steve also wins the club veteran 5k championships with Kevin knight 2nd and Andy Biggs 3rd. Kim Simpson was our only female runner and had a good run finishing 17th, winning the club senior women’s event. Sadly no veteran women attended.
