In the Northern Senior & u/20 Track and Field Championships at Sport City, Manchester, three of the Club’s athletes took part and all ran well against some strong opposition. Scott Armstrong was unlucky to miss out by 0.53sec on a podium finish in the final of the u/20 Men’s 800m, finishing 4th in a time of 2.04.64, despite strong winds in the back straight. Sophie Wood had an excellent run in the Senior Women’s 400m Final finishing 5th in a time of 58.12. Meanwhile, in the Senior Men’s 400m Final, the ever consistent Tim Tetlow finished 6th in a good quality field recording 50.94.
[divider]At the recent North of England T&F Div 3 Match at Jarrow, Durham were forced to field a weakened Team due to injuries or other commitments and missed out on points where there was no B string athlete to pick-up those vital points required for this Competition. However, those who did compete were encouraged by their fellow Club-mates throughout the afternoon, and at the end of the day the City Harriers still managed to finish 3rd Team, even against some combined Teams, results of which were as follows:
