Last Sunday saw Club athletes racing in four different counties to get in some good competition in their chosen events, some to assess their current early season track form, whilst others extended their XC season into their Road Racing program.

Firstly on the track, in the John Newsome Memorial Open Meeting at Wakefield, Sophie Wood had an excellent victory in the Junior /Senior Women’s 400m Race recording a time of 56.69 (pb), just ahead of teammate Samantha Coleby 2nd in 57.01, who did a good speed workout for her 800m racing, with Rebecca Mott (u/20) 5th in 62.51 (pb). In the Junior/Senior Men’s 400m Cameron Bain (u/23) also had a fine run finishing 2nd but dipping under 50secs for the first time to record a 49.91(pb), with teammate Scott Armstrong (u/20) 5th in 52.88. In the u/17 Women’s 300m Anna Carlon also recorded  a fine victory in a very good time of 43.09.

In-form Veteran Joasia Zakrzewski (o/40) recorded yet another fine double victory in the Three Villages 10 Mile Road Race in Wetheral, Cumbria, finishing 1st Lady and 1st Veteran, and was 5th overall recording a very  good time of 62.07.

Meanwhile in the Blyth 10k, Veteran Matt Hornsby (o/35) had an outstanding run finishing 4th overall recording 32.54 only 8 secs short of his pb, followed by Robin Linten 15th 34.07(pb), Rob Everson 26th 35.26(pb), Cameron Allan (u/17) 43rd 37.04(pb), Karl Monaghan 44th 37.12, and Clare Fearns 188th 43.22.

Veteran Steve Everett had yet another outstanding run, in the Hartlepool Marina
5 mile Road Race he finished 15th overall recording 28.50 and was 1st (o/55), whilst
Kelly Bentley was 175th overall and 4th (o/50) recording 36.39, whilst Brian Brown was 278th overall and was 3rd (o/70) in 42.15.
