Five athletes from the City Harriers were selected to run in the C.A.U. Inter-Counties XC which was held for the first time in the grounds of Prestwold Hall, Loughborough. Four were representing North East Counties, with one running for Scotland North, and all selected in different races within their age categories. Although there were no individual winners from the Club in this very tough competition, the City athletes justified their selection as three of them came away with Team medals.

Laura Lee finished 55th in the u/20 Women’s 6k recording a time of 25.34 and with 4 to count she was delighted to be 4th scorer as they went onto win Team Gold.

Dan Jenkin, who generally features high up in this Competition but has had injury problems, finished
113th in the Senior Men’s 12k recording 42.42, but this time missed out on the record
breaking NE Team of 6 to count (who recorded their 7th win a row to equal Lancashire’s overall record). However, as Dan was 8th counter, the NE also won Gold in the 9 to count Team Race ensuring he didn’t miss out.

In the u/13 Girls 3k, the in-form Erin Keeler-Clarke finished 41st recording 13.43 and, as she was 4th counter, helped the Team secure Bronze Medals.

In the Senior Women’s 8k the ever consistent Rosie Smith finished a respectable 20th place recording 31.31 and was the NE 2nd counter, the Team just missing out on the honours finishing 4th.

Cameron Allan also did well in the u/17 Men’s 6k finishing 80th, recording a good time of 21.51, and was 3rd counter for the Scotland North Team.
