Ultra distance veteran runner Joasia Zakrzewski (o/40) had a very good run  in the
Scottish Masters XC Championships in Dundee winning Bronze  in the 6klm Race
recording a time of 24.47.

The following week Joasia ran in the North East Masters Open XC Championships at Wallsend and won Gold again this year retaining her Women’s title she won last year and recording a time of 22.38 in the combined Women’s and o/65 Men’s Race over a 3.5 mile course. Team-mate Kelly Bentley was 20th and 1st o/50 winning Gold in her category recording 28.20 and with Samantha Newington (o/40) 28th in 28.44, the 3 scorers, the Team won Bronze. Christine Woods finished 34th in 31.30 and was 5th (o/55). In the Men’s o/65 Race, Brian Brown finished 14th recording 32.20 and was 6th (o/70). In the (o/35 and under 65) Race, Steve Everett had an outstanding run finishing 13th overall and winning Gold in his (o/55) category for the 5.2 Mile Race recording a time of 33.30. Team-mates Tony McNeil (o/50) was 71st in 42.22 and Geoff Watson (o/40) 74th in 42.50.

At the other end of the spectrum, the Northern Schools Inter-County Cross Country
Championships were held at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School on a really hilly and gruelling course but the young Club members who were representing Durham County
performed really well in the testing conditions, results of which were as follows:

Minor Girls (1900m ): Erin Keeler-Clarke 2nd 7.54, Holly Cook 41st 9.07, Tara Sebastiao-Yatsuzuka 49th 9.37.

Junior Boys (3800m) ; Sam Gibson 11th 14.48, Peter Cook 12th 14.54, Thomas Wraith 13th 14.56, Joshua Wraith 19th 15.08, Charlie Phillips 27th 15.27, Izaak Taylor 34th 15.47, William McKenna 52nd 16.27.

Intermediate Boys (5700m): Ryan Watson 35th 23.14, Cameron Thomas 40th 23.29, Ben Horsfield 56th 24.13, Jack Watson 61st 24.42.

Senior Boys (7100m): Michael Wade 6th, Luke Pickering 9th, Joseph Grehan-Bradley 17th, William Morgan- Rippon 25th (correct times not known).

Senior Girls (3800m): Charlotte Kenyon 38th 20.00, Alice Hopper 42nd 22.23.

In the annual Dewsbury 10k Road Race (Long Course) Dan Garbutt finished a very creditable 3rd place in a time of 31.55, whilst Matt Hornsby was 7th, recording a pb time of 32.46 and was 2nd (o/35). There were 1083 finishers.
